Ya Gotta Take the L Bad with the J Good!

Well, that was one of the most laughable Sunday afternoons I have spent in a long time . . . the only thing I can say about last Sunday’s game is that I hope they got it all out of their system. We were horrible in every facet of the game . . . ’nuff said!

This Sunday we get a chance to prove to the world that we are not a fraud. We get a chance to kick an enemy in the teeth when they are down. We get a chance to win a Divisional Game on National TV. We get a chance to do something that is very near and dear to all of our hearts . . . BEAT THE EAGLES!!!! The Eagles were thrashed soundly in Denver last weekend, and they can feel their hold on the NFC East slipping away, so they are going to come into FedEx Field desperate for both a good showing and a win. Their running game is virtually non-existent, so we must keep it that way by shutting off the track meet that has been going on the left side on the line. I would hate Brian Westbrook to get back in the productive column against us, so we need to do what the Cowboys and Broncos did . . . jump on them early and make them play catch up ball. With McNabb hurting as much as he has been, that scenario usually brings success against the Eagles these days. Our offense can’t be any worse than it was last week, so I look for success from Brunell & Co. against a battered Eagles defense that has been torched their past two weeks out. Chris Samuels says he will play this weekend after sustaining a knee injury in the Giants fiasco, but he better perform at a higher level than he showed early Sunday or he can ride some pine.

BURGUNDY & GOLD FANTASY LEAGUE UPDATE ~ Week #8

The dreaded Bye Weeks continued to play havoc with Rosters this week as a number of teams were decimated by the loss of key players and could not recover.
4Game Over (Danny Zegan) squeaked by the Peyton Manning-less Primetime (Rodney Twyman) on the strength of the Cowboys' defense. Someone needs to let Primetime know about the Waiver wire . . . JP Losman doesn’t deserve a spot on ANYONE’s roster.
470-Chip (Kenn Jackson) also took advantage of the Bye by beating Jerry’s 421 (Mary Priddy), who was without Edgerrin James and Mike Vanderjagt.
4Unsung Heroes (John Domin) continued his surge, moving into second place by beating the Aquabats (Josh Beckett), even overcoming "0" from Wideouts Az Hakim and Doug Gabriel.
4The fighting Hellfish (Matt Goldie) rode Drew Brees and Steve Smith (he had NOTHING ELSE) to victory over The Redskins (Linda Domin).
4In the High Score Game of the week, Calley’s Allstars (John Priddy) got back in the win column with the big time help of Antonio Gates by beating TDsnDC (Carl Murphy), who suffered the season loss of QB Daunte Culpepper. The win by Calley's Allstars sets up this weekend's showdown between the two Conference Leaders – Calley’s Allstars (7-1) and 70-Chip (7-1).

Standings after Week #8:
Burgundy Division Gold Division
Calley’s Allstars 7 – 1 70 Chip 7 – 1
Hellfish 5 – 3 Unsung Heroes 5 – 3
Redskins 4 – 4 Game Over 4 – 4
TDsnDC 1 - 7 Jerry’s 421 4 – 4
The Aquabats 1 – 7 Primetime 2 – 5
