SO FAR . . . SO GOOD!

The Washington Redskins stayed atop the NFC East with a thrilling overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks at FedEx Field this past Sunday. They did it in a style reminiscent of the "Joe Gibbs//Joe Bugel" teams of old, with BALL CONTROL . . . a Steady Defense . . . and NO mistakes! They did let Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks back into it at the end with a late interception and score that tied the game, but the defense came up big at the very end to stop Shaun Alexander for no gain, which made the field goal attempt at the end of regulation a very missable 47 yarder. Seahawk kicker Josh Brown did not disappoint the Redskins faithful . . . raising his arms in celebration before his errant kick D-O-I-N-K-E-D off the left goal post as time expired! In overtime, we got the ball first, and the "Moss-Brunell" show was on again as a 30 yard reception gave rookie Nick Novak a chance for his first of many game winning field goals!

This week starts a tough two-game road trip to a couple of the toughest stadiums in the league, with visits to the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos are up first, and after an opening weekend loss to the resurgent Dolphins, they are 3-0. Champ Bailey was inactive last week, but you can bet he will want to dress for this one, as I am sure both he and Clinton Portis have had this game circled on their calendars since the schedules came out in May! The Broncos have been steady on both sides of the ball and will pose a formidable threat, especially when dealing with the altitude problems that Denver poses for opposing teams. The resiliency that the Skins have shown in close games has been the difference this year, and look for that to continue as Jake Plummer has shown he can be rattled by pressure early. .........................................John Priddy

BURGUNDY & GOLD FANTASY LEAGUE UPDATE

The 3-week run at the top of the "score pile" ended this week as Calleys Allstars (John Priddy) won their game over the Aquabats (Josh Beckett), but relinquished the "high score" title. It was tough going for Calleys because he had to play his stud, Shaun Alexander, against the Washington Redskins . . . "Schizophrenic Sundays" . . . oh boy!

The Rookie Coach of TDsnDC (Son of Carl Murphy) fell to the awesome power of Donovan McNabb and The Redskins (Linda Domin).

Last year’s champ, Unsung Heroes (John Domin), continued their rise from an 0-2 start with a victory over Game Over (Danny Zegan).

Primetime (Rodney Twyman), on the arm of Peyton Manning (FINALLY), topped Jerry’s 421 (Mary Priddy) after they ended up tied; however, Primetime won on the points of his bench.

Hard Luck Game of the Week: The fighting Hellfish (Matt Goldie) scored 144 points, only to fall in defeat to the "high scorer" of the week, 70-Chip (Kenn Jackson).

After Week 5, there will only be one winless team as the mighty Aquabats and TDsnDC will battle it out.

Standings after Week 4:

Burgundy Division Gold Division
Calley’s Allstars 4 - 0 70-Chip 3 - 1
The Redskins 3 - 1 Primetime 2 - 2
HellFish 2 - 2 Unsung Heroes 2 - 2
The Aquabats 0 - 4 Game Over 2 - 2
TDsnDC 0 - 4 Jerry’s 421 2 - 2
