WASHINGTON REDSKINS v. CHICAGO BEARS
@ FedEx Field
Sunday, September 11, 2005 ~ 12:00 noon
Austin Avenue Grill & Sports Bar

Opening Day Feast !!!!

The 2005 campaign for our Washington Redskins begins for real this Sunday as the Chicago Bears come to FedEx Field for an opening weekend battle. A relatively placid off-season has supposedly built up that ever-elusive "Team Chemistry," and has the players and coaches optimistic that they can be this year’s version of the 2004 San Diego Chargers . . . a strong running team with a resurgent young Quarterback who has his back to the wall.

The Offensive Line has been replenished, with Jon Jansen back from injury and new addition Casey Rabach from the Ravens. More importantly, it was an off-season under the same coaching staff as last year. The blocking schemes have been tweaked by Coach Bugel to take advantage of Clinton Portis’ speed instead of the bruising power of the counter trey of years past.

As far as the passing game goes, the speed deficit at wideout has been addressed with the addition of Santana Moss and David Patten. Patrick Ramsey should be able to build up a good level of confidence against an already reeling Bears team, which is headed into the season with untested kids at starting quarterback and running back. While both these players look to be good projects . . . they are still going to be a little wide-eyed on their first weekend, and our Gregg Williams’ led defense should be able to rattle them early and often!

Prediction – Redskins 17, Bears 6 .............................John Priddy
