Washington REDSKINS at Cleveland BROWNS
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2004 ~ 12:00 Noon
Austin Avenue Grill & Sports Bar

The Joe Gibbs Show returned to Monday Night Football this week against the Parcells-led Dallas team, and the result was one that we have seen before. Wasted opportunities, questionable clock management, and overall horrible, horrible officiating led to a rally by our Redskins falling short. Two blatantly WRONG calls enabled the Dallas team to score undeserved points, and a ridiculous non-call on Gardner being interfered with in the end zone cost us at the end, as we ran out of time while driving for the tying field goal. Gardner came to play with one of his finest games as a pro, and the team didn't have any turnovers, but they certainly did not look as crisp as we would like them. However, as Coach Gibbs said after the game…."It's a long season, and there are plenty of good 1-2 teams in this league."

This weekend we take on another of those 1-2 teams as we travel to Cleveland to take on the injury-riddled Browns. After a season-opening win over the Ravens, the Browns have posted back-to-back duds, losing to Dallas and the Giants. They are without a lot of bodies on both sides of the ball, and this is a team that the Redskins should beat soundly, road game or not. Their supposed stud running back, Lee Suggs, still hasn't seen the field, and Kellen Winslow II (or "The Chosen One" as he prefers to be called) is out with a broken leg. The Skins' defense needs to rebound from a less-than-spirited effort on Monday Night, and this should be a game where they can post some strong numbers.

Look for the Redskins to come out mad and take out their frustrations on an inferior Cleveland squad.

The Gold Conference showed its muscle early in the season, winning 4 out of 5 inter-conference games in Week #3:

~Jerry's421 (Mary Priddy, owner) remains unbeaten, getting just enough from Chris Cooley and Keyshawn Johnson to overcome losing Charlie Garner for the season on Sunday, beating Hellfish (Matt Goldie, owner).
~Game Over (Danny Zegan, owner) also remains undefeated, using a balanced attack to down the Redskins (Linda Domin, owner).
~70-Chip (Kenn Jackson, owner) got off the schnide by beating K.D.I. (Chad Costa/Scott Howerton, owners) on the arm of Brett Favre and the legs of Jamal Lewis.

The Burgundy Conference only win was a come-from-behind victory by TDsnDC (Carl Murphy, ownr) over Unsung Heroes (John Domin, owner) on the shoulders of Rod Gardner's stellar performance in the Monday Night game.

Big Win of the Week: Primetime (Rodney Twyman, owner) posted the big win in the league this week thanks to the insane performance of Peyton Manning, downing Calley's Allstars (John Priddy, owner).
