My first thought was to write the title and nothing else because, well, what else is there to say?
And not only did our beloved Redskins win the East, but they beat Dallas in front of a national audience to claim the title! It just keeps getting better and better.
I had forgotten what it felt like to play Dallas in a meaningful game, and by the time the ball was kicked off Sunday night, I was a nervous wreck. And when our sure-footed kicker clanked the right upright on a 37 yarder in the first quarter, I thought it just wasn’t our night . . . 3 possessions (2 by turnovers) and zero points? Then I had to watch Dallas march down and score - - even though the play clock HAD expired.
Enter Alfred Morris and his 200 yards on 33 carries and 3 TDs, and it was OVER! Even RG3 and his one leg averaged over 10 yards per carry against Robby’s Defense. The passing game was efficient, but it was evident the Offensive game plan was to run the ball often and bleed the clock. Mission accomplished!
The Defensive game plan was simple, too – blitz early and often to rush and confuse Mr. Romo. I was so tired of hearing about his Madden-like numbers the past four weeks and how our Defense could and would be exposed. Final numbers for Mr. Clutch were 218 yards and 3 INTs, with NO big plays to Dez Bryant. Well played, Mr. Haslett . . . well played.
So Seattle comes to town for the first playoff game in DC since 1999 this Sunday, and I think we’ll win a close, very low-scoring game.
I like our Defense to slow down their running game, and for Alfred to have another big game. The Seahawks may have great corners, but they are susceptible to the play fake, and no one is better at play action than RG3! The Seahawks may be great at home, but they struggle on the road, and our fans have been waiting 13 years for this game!
But the biggest reason I think we win this Sunday . . . RG3 said he will be brace-free this weekend!
Congrats to London Fletcher named NFC Defensive Player of the Month. Well deserved!
